happy dreams

This beautiful and fragile ceramic candle burner made it safely home  from Santorini in my suitcase...From 1260 Ceramic Studio, the husband and wife team, simply amazing!
At night it reminds me to chill out, let go and float. Wishing you a good night!

mediterranean island pot plants

So, so cute, these Santorini pot plants...Sometimes in the least expected places, tucked in a corner or hanging to a narrow ledge, these gems of the innovate island gardening are pretty cool. In terra-cotta, white or deep blue pots, sometimes hidden under a pile of rocks, as if emerging from the lava covered slopes of this rocky island, the resilient succulents make an eye catching statement.
Looking at them I tend to think they are showing us something - hanging there, courage against all odds, sticking it out, just keep going - and then a flower comes up, high and proud. Funky stuff.
Get inspired by them, and they are too easy to look after!

botanical jewelry inspiration

For the most beautiful, delicate botanical inspired metal jewelry, check my latest Etsy find:
Elizabeth Scott Designs. Elizabeth is using recycled sterling silver and gold to create simple, yet intricate pendants, rings and earrings decorated with leaf shapes, acorns, conifers, ginkgo and poppy flower patterns, and chiseled, hammered surface. I'm enticed!

Santorini found objects

A little post-Santorini mood board from mediterranean plants and artifacts to offset the rainy day at home. Try lavendula, rosemary, thyme, oregano, sage and yellow flowering santolina - they  smell divinely of windswept Aegean hills each time you run your hand against them.
Try to mix coarse salt for your grinder with mediterranean herbs to put an extra kick on baked potatoes, salads, marinades, grilled meat or soup.
Ah, and Argyros wine is just divine!

Santorini dream

Perched precariously  on the edge of a submerged volcano, Santorini is an island of dreams come true and views not to forget. A week I spent there was definitely not enough, but then again, I had a wedding to attend, a family reunion to be happy about, a cool boat cruise and fun scooter rides, not to mention the off season greek hospitality (the best) and amazing food and wine to enjoy. I definitely want to go back.
But what stroke me the most was the relaxed lifestyle and the caring attitude and flair the people of the island seem  naturally to  posses. Cute looking plants in pots, grey and white painted staircases - lots of those on this vertical island -  bowls of water for stray animals everywhere, tiny lace window curtains, blue window frames and doors...this place follows it's own stunning esthetics. More about this later...
It also offers a million dollars view for a 3 star price. If you need to get away from it all, visit Santorini.

styling grey with jewelry

My week is shrouded in clouds and dripping with rain, so to stay in tune with shades of grey outside, I went over my etsy shop and found  some stylish grey/silver jewelry pieces. So easy to wear and match, grey feels perfectly at home with neutrals, pattern, multicolored and block colored clothes and is great for those not sure what to wear occasions. So, for a little inspiration, have a look:

I wish you a happy grey styling!

grey design

Ok, let's talk grey. Amazing color! First, it goes with anything. Second - it lets you do whatever you always wanted...it will just fill the background for you, and it will make it look very classy. You can have your pick - very light, dreamy grey, mid grey, or a dark, stormy grey, depending on the mood...it will fill the gaps. Honestly. Like a best friend would.
Here's some inspiration pics to get you started in style...

Thunderstorm grey, natural timber and a touch of gold...you can't go wrong. White accessories add the spark.

Some of the many shades of gorgeous grey.

For the industrial look aluminum silver pipes  and metal lampshade play against the black and white oversize prints and black wire furniture.

Rough concrete contrasted with graphite smooth table surface, white sofas and the delicate, soft carpet.

Grey as a canvas for the unusual ethnic pattern.

Minimalistic and chic, this entrance looks deceptively easy to achieve.

Stunning contrast of this bedroom speaks of quiet haven in the face of the storm. The fragile crystal lamp adds the final twist to this sparse bedroom.

Patterns, patterns...who said grey was boring? This room has an immediate relaxed atmosphere of funky joie de vivre.

Shiny purplish grey of the lampshades makes this room come alive.

Modern and loft like, simple edges of the furniture create canvas for the decorations in this lobby looking room.

Lots of white and dark grey floors are a perfect background for the big abstract painting.

Shy grey accent looks at home against white fabrics in this natural colored interior.

Cute and original accessories like these will be a focal point despite their neutral color.
